PARKERSBURG – As the holiday shopping season enters its final week and many parents are still trying to find the toys their children want, national retailers with stores in the Mid-Ohio Valley report what the most popular toys buyers want.

Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us and Kmart reported Bakugan and Transformers action figures are popular as well as products from Nerf.

Wal-Mart and Toys-R-Us reported seeing the Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters being popular this season.

”Those have been hard to keep in stock,” said Ashley Hardy, Wal-Mart spokesman. ”We have a million more coming in before Christmas.”

Video games for the X-Box, PS3 and Wii systems remain popular, she said.

Toys-R-Us and Kmart also had the ChixOs Luxury Loft and the Laugh & Learn Learning Farm on the lists of their top 15 toys of the season.

Video game systems like Wii and Playstation remain good sellers.

Many people have been asking for items like Mindflex and Zhu Zhu Pets.

”Those are the things people want, but we haven’t had in stock,” Cottrill said, adding they are expecting shipments on them soon.

Although there are always hot toy items every season, many parents and children still enjoy the classics, Hardy said.

”Barbie Dolls are still popular with girls,” she said.

Games people can gather around and play are making a comeback.

”Board games are becoming popular again,” Hardy said.

Popular games still include Sorry, Jenga, Monopoly as well as classic games that have added updates and new features, like Clue.

”Families are returning to time together around the table,” Hardy said.
